Dutch style housing system has no place in Ireland

A group of Irish dairy farmers who recently visited the Netherlands, saw little relevance of the Dutch higher input housing system for the Irish industry. Most Irish farmers have no desire to match the Dutch peak production. In the Netherlands, feed is brought to the cow and they operate in a much more controlled environment. Ireland has the ability to take their herd to good quality pasture. The two infrastructures would be costly to run together.
