Maristow’s Gnatts Monitor Farm

As part of the on-going reporting process from the LIC (UK) monitor farm at Gnatts Farm, on the Maristow Estate, below are some key points on progress and issues from the June meeting between LIC Pasture to Profit Consultant Piers Badnell, Herd Manager Sarah Baker and Farm Manager John Allen

April report from LIC (UK)’s monitor farm Maristow Estate’s Gnatts Farm

The team at Maristow, in association with Piers Badnell, Pasture to Profit Consultant, put together both physical and financial targets and a two-year plan for the farm. The targets will be discussed at the coming open day on April 26th but include grass grown and utilised, milk solids produced, concentrate usage, paddocks grazed per year and youngstock targets.

Maristow’s Gnatts Farm announced as new monitor farm

Following on from the great success of the LIC (UK) and Lydney Park monitor farm in Gloucestershire a few years ago, LIC (UK) has partnered with Maristow Farms, Roborough just north of Plymouth, to repeat the successful venture.

Open day sets clear targets

The first open day at the LIC monitor farm, Maristow's Gnatts Farm, on April 26th, was a well attended, lively event with lots of participation and discussion from staff and visitors alike. At the end of the day, the group put together some targets for the coming months (see below), which we’ll monitor via the website, press articles, Facebook and future events.
